There are times you just want a different look at things. Sometimes that takes doing a lot of research. Other times….
Just tilt your head back.
And a bit farther back.
The light, hues, and cloud forms have totally shifted, even though the ambient weather hasn’t changed.
Here you can see which direction the sun likely is, even if you can’t see it in this shot.
Okay, neck sore now. Back down!
But all of these are the same sky, taken within a few minutes. It just depends on where you look.
Note this for writing, too. A story set on the docks of a port city will go very differently from one centered in the small town ten miles inland and upriver. Where your point of view “looks” – what you show, where your characters go – can completely change the story.
Of course a peasant would look more to forecast weather than admire
