“Easy.” Kanzeon’s voice was gentler now; soothing, as se held out an arm for Hakuryuu to settle on and chirp sadly. “What you are now seems a bit impulsive, but it’s certainly viable. There’s no reason to think you’re evil, Cho Hakkai. Dangerous, yes. But all my Sanzos are dangerous, and they’re the farthest thing from evil in the world.” Se tapped Hakuryuu on the nose. “And you can just relax. You know that’s your Hakkai, and I know he is. We can fix your parameters, if you let me.”
“Cheep!”
“How?” Hakkai had to ask, startled. “He’s not supposed to be hackable in that respect. And my biometrics are, well….”
“Biometrics,” Kanzeon waved a dismissive hand. “Just a way energy’s expressed in the world.” Se bent an amused gaze on an indignant dragon. “And I wouldn’t dream of hacking you, any more than I’d toy with Sanzo’s memory. I can just give you an alternative biometric for your owner. And the sensors to use it.”
“Kyuu?” The dragon tilted his head, then nodded.
“Sensors?” Hakkai had to ask, somehow terrified.
“You might want to cover your eyes,” Sanzo stated. “Se likes to be flashy.”
That earned him a wicked grin. “And you don’t like to be flashy enough.”
Hakkai traded another glance with Gojyo, both of them adding up stark white robes, black belt, and that terrifying rustle of the sutra on Sanzo’s shoulders. Gojyo spread empty hands, as if he didn’t know whether to laugh or cry.
This isn’t what I thought a kami would be like. Hakkai shielded his eyes as a golden glow lit Kanzeon’s hands, spreading over white fur. Odd; why were the shadows being cast that way-
Oh.
Shifting on Sanzo’s shoulders like wind-blown leaves, the sutra echoed the glow, before the priest growled and tapped paper with his finger. “Quit that.”
“Tch. Maten’s just being friendly,” Kanzeon remarked, not taking hir eyes off Hakuryuu as the glow intensified. “You really ought to learn to do this yourself.”
“Human, remember?” One blond brow lifted, just enough to show someone did not give a damn. “I haven’t got the wiring to pull off energy-manipulation on that level.”
“Hmm.”
“Don’t ‘hmm’ me, hag. I like my brain the way it is. Unfried.”
“Aww, too bad,” Goku heaved a sigh, watching with wide eyes. “It’s tingly!”
>>“Human, remember?” One blond brow lifted, just enough to show someone did not give a damn. “I haven’t got the wiring to pull off energy-manipulation on that level.”
That’s what you think, Sanzo… 😀

Well, he’s probably correct. At the moment.

Did he get an infection or a vaccine?

Neither. The Maten is cranky about things trying to eat its bearer!

At this point? Killed the virus.

So, do you post snippets of this chapter only when you update chapter 4, or just when you find an interesting passage?

Ah. I was hoping to use them as a marker of progress.

At the moment.
But Kanzeon is sneaky . . . . and if I remember correctly from Ch1, Sanzo has something possibly not-human in his DNA . . . and you like keeping Sanzo as Kanzeon’s nephew in some fashion . . .
Granted Maten doesn’t like things eating its bearer . . . . but Kanzeon isn’t going to eat him is se?
Just saying that Kanzeon probably isn’t going to let little details like this spoil any plans se might have.

*Snrk* Sanzo has something engineered in his DNA, yes; source currently unknown. And he now has idiots. 😉

Of course, he has idiots. 🙂
Because those three are never not going to be his problem.

Nope! 🙂

Oh yay! The boys are back. That “Humm” didn’t sound like a agreement, Sanzo. Just sayin’

Somehow, I don’t think that’s going to cut any ice with Kanzeon (a.k.a, Murphy’s Long-Lost Cousin)

Koumyou seemed silly sometimes. He wasn’t. 😉

>And I wouldn’t dream of hacking you, any more than I’d toy with Sanzo’s memory.>
And the way she gives that specific example of something she wouldn’t do isn’t worrying at all no.
I can see Sanzo now forcing the Sutra to help him go through his memories to check for any tampering.

Heh! Probably.

Yeah, that was a suspiciously specific denial . . . .
Through I wonder if se was attempting to misdirect Sanzo from something se is not quite ready to discuss yet. Possibly because se is waiting on more popcorn because I have the feeling Sanzo’s reaction to whatever it is that se is hiding will be epic.

Misdirection, mostly. Se really wants to see what’s going to happen next!

Of course Sanzo knows that Kanzeon’s misdirecting him. As such he’ll react accordingly. By that same token she knows that he knows she’s misdirecting him.
The question is if he knows that she knows that he knows she’s misdirecting him.
You know?

Would using the Sutra that he indirectly got from hir or the other kami actually work if se did reprogram his memory? Would it be programmed to not tell him things se didn’t want it to programmed into it? Did se say that partially because se knew he was paranoid enough to not know if he could trust the Sutra with this?

…Oi. *Facepalms* Sometimes Kanzeon just messes with people.

..so right now, Sanzo’s maybe the equivalent of a low-level Quincy? Since he was able to shoot pyrokinetic(?) bullets to kill the akuma attacking the temple? It probably won’t take too much adjustment to up his levels, I’m guessing. 🙂

Psychokinetic. As in what he does with bullets involves telekinesis on a tiny scale, carrying a charge of energy with the lead to make sure regeneration gets disrupted all to heck. 😉
