A Different Kind of Door Crossover Ficbit – Reunion

“Sammie!”

Jumping out of the conference room chair, Jacob Carter clung to his daughter, suppressing any impulse to shake like a leaf. He knew SG-1, knew they’d defy any odds to get his Samantha back….

And none of that had held a candle to a soldier’s cold knowledge that some odds were too much for anybody. And sooner or later, even the best luck runs out.

:Are you certain this is wise, Jacob? We can still feel the intruder within her, and that clothing-:

SG-1, Selmac, Jacob reminded his symbiote and friend, ignoring the silky black under his hands. They wouldn’t let an enemy near one of Earth’s allies. And I’m guessing the clothes are because they just got back. He stole a glance at O’Neill, who was openly eyeing DiZ with a less than friendly glare. That, and the colonel wants to make a point.

“The blending went well, then,” DiZ said thoughtfully, straightening the heavy, black-and-red patterned robes Ansem favored. “Good.”

…And the point just sailed right over their heads, Jacob winced, seeing O’Neill’s eyes narrow. Though when it came down to it, he was more worried about Dr. Jackson. The archaeologist was pale with suppressed fury, Teal’c casually hanging onto his shoulder with a grip that could bend steel.

:We should-:

I’m not getting them out of this one, Selmac. Ansem may be your friend, but this is my daughter.

“DiZ. Ansem,” General George Hammond ground out, in tones that could cut glass, “I sincerely hope that no member of the Tok’ra engineered this course of events.”

“Engineer it? Don’t be ridiculous. You are our allies, after all.” DiZ’s blond head dipped, and Ansem looked up. “It was merely the most logical outcome to anticipate. Major Carter would have been a potentially valuable source of information on the Tok’ra, the Tau’ri, and our alliances throughout the galaxy. Organization Thirteen would have taken great care to select or secure a compatible symbiote.”

  1. Oh. Man. Look, Larxene is the Savage Nymph. That she fits with Sam so well… And I think the Tok’ra have a fundamental misunderstanding of what happens with Nobodies. Understandable! But it’s going to be, a pointy issue. If Axel portals into this, there are greater than even odds they’d allow themselves to be distracted enough to let DiZ get fried.

And her looking a lot different than usual has sailed over several people’s heads. Hair color, eye color, antennae… hard to miss! Jacob gets a pass for sheer relief blinding him to everyone else.

    1. I highly doubt the tokra know just what this particular sort of blending entails. Otherwise they would have been looking for the changes, and Jacob would already have his hands around DiZ’s neck, Selmac be damned.

And Selmac might have been horrified enough to allow it. Though possibly not for the same reasons. What happens if they manage to up the virus potency and set it loose amongst the tokra? They’d probably be stuck in their host bodies as they twist and warp around them, unable to escape.

A true blending, unable to tell where they end and the host begins, if they’re lucky. Mindless beasts if they’re not. And the ‘lucky’ ones will get to watch it happen to everyone else, too.

    2. Not sure Jacob missed it so much as “worry about that later, hug her to use tactile sense to confirm my eyes aren’t seeing things.” He’s *definitely noticed* Sam is not the same. He probably expected it, though I doubt he expected such enormous changes.

Jacob’s also in the unenviable position of seeing both sides of the issue, while knowing darn well he can’t flip out and attack DiZ. He didn’t get his rank for nothing, so I doubt he would *attack* DiZ. Let him get fried? Oh-so-conveniently be too busy to rescue him? *That* I can see Jacob doing very easily.

Besides, Jack and Daniel have the outburst part covered. Let them do the venting, help Teal’c keep things from getting physical while holding onto Sam for dear life…

…and then Jacob can come back with a ten pound hammer when the opportunity to smack DiZ presents itself in the future, and not mind a whit.

      1. Ah, my favorite kind of DPS– a smart one!

There’s *two* different tanks, let them tank, help the support, and be ready to execute your special attack when there’s a good spot.

  2. With an ally like him, who needs enemies?

That said, DiZ is likely to be a point in common for both Sam and Larxene. Namely, they’ll both despise him. Probably some wary respect as well, but that’ll likely be drowned out by a desire to rip him limb from limb…

  3. “Of course we didn’t engineer it. We didn’t have to. Warn you? Don’t be silly. We know best, puny humans.”

From what I know of Tok’ra in canon, of course, that’s not exactly a surprising attitude. Been a long time since I watched a playthrough of Kingdom Hearts II, but now that I think about it DiZ probably would fit right in with them.

  4. *winces*

DiZ… That’s not what you say to a pissed off group. Let along this pissed off group.

My memories of SG are spotty it’s been so long, but that’s not what you say when Danial and Jack have those expressions on their faces…

    1. Yeah, most people miss how deeply Danny can hate if given cause to. There is an early episode, where he and Sam raid a container of infant Goa’uld to get a symboite for Teal’c son, Rya’c.

After getting the one Danny contemplates how many other people the rest will implant, just like his wife. Carter says they can’t kill them, it would make them as bad as the Goa’uld.

They turn to walk away, only for Carter to spin back at the sound of gunfire. And see Dr Jackson had lagged back, and at the first chance turn and mag dumped his SMG into the tank, killing the rest of the larval Goa’uld.

      1. On that one, I kinda agree with Danny…

Especially since it’s not clear that they become sentient unless they do eat someone, which would class them more like Buffy style vampires.

      2. Genetic memories, they probably do count as sentient. They might get clearer after being implanted, though- extra brain power to understand, maybe, or simply the added context that comes with experience in comparison to watching a documentary.

Watching someone else do something, while satisfying, is not personal. And as each goauld seems to have their own distinct (and usually terrible) personality, they might very well have their own personal peanut gallery critiquing those memories. ‘If I had to make at choice…’
