Catch a Falling Star 2 Unfinished Ficbit – Look Up

“That’s going to make this trickier, even if your New York guys get here soon,” Tristan noted. “We don’t know how much time we have. Unless somebody else heard something from Ishizu?”

“No,” Mokuba shook his head, clutching his sketchbook, “Just what she saw before. Some ancient evil from beyond the stars.”

“Ancient evil,” Kaiba growled, stabbing fingers at his keyboard, fine-tuning his search. “As if the present-day ones aren’t trouble enough.”

“Hey, if it was modern bad guys, they wouldn’t call us.” Joey ruffled Mokuba’s black hair. “She can’t be more specific?”

Kaiba snorted. “Presuming the Necklace is showing a possible future… clairvoyance doesn’t work that way, mutt.”

“Yeah, but we could be talking anything from ‘The Andromeda Strain’ to ‘ET Goes Bad!'”

“Aliens might be reaching,” Ryou said with a roll of eyes. “We’re closer now. Let’s see…” One hand drew the Millennium Ring from beneath his sweater. Chocolate eyes closed.

The five gold pointers suspended from the Ring stirred, the eye in its center gleaming bright. The center point twitched upward slightly.

Ryou sighed, shaking back white hair as the Ring quieted once more. “I’m sorry. It’s still too far.”

“Not aliens, huh?” Joey said dryly. “So what else? Legionnaire’s disease?”

Kaiba shot him an incredulous look.

“What? I read!”

“And the universe is astounded,” Kaiba said dryly.

“Why, you-”

“Joey!” Serenity latched onto his arm.

“Big brother,” Mokuba sighed.

“Guys, guys,” Tristan spread calming hands. “Let’s stick to the problem, all right?”

“Tristan’s right,” Tea said firmly. “If this is as big as Ishizu said it is, we can’t win if we’re fighting each other. We got here. We’re together. And even if we don’t know who the enemy is, we know who’s after Kaiba.” Mouth dry, she looked at Yami. “Now what?”

“We prepare to draw all of our enemies into the open.” Ruby gleamed in the dark spirit’s gaze. “What do we have? What do we know?”

  1. -“What do we have? What do we know?”-
“You mean aside from their credit card numbers, full names, work address, date of birth, place of residence and a collection of USB keys for Kaiba to hack?”

    “Tomb robber…”

“Don’t get snippy with me pharaoh, taking the wallets and emptying their pockets was all Ryou’s idea.”

Sorry Seto but Murphy has you on speed dial. Anything it considers to be an interesting experience / a problem that needs solving, is going to be sent your way.

“Hey, if it was modern bad guys, they wouldn’t call us.”

    Possibly.

Unless this was a magic problem and you were the only trained / semi-trained magicians in range who could handle it in time.

Like say, someone trying to summon an actual proper demon to this plane of reality.

Or do something with a Hellmouth that might destroy the world.

“Aliens might be reaching,” Ryou said with a roll of eyes.

    Not this time.

Besides it is evil beyond the stars.

The five gold pointers suspended from the Ring stirred, the eye in its center gleaming bright. The center point twitched upward slightly.

    Not surprising.

Through I wonder if he tried searching for a Gate of the Stars if a certain one in Colorado is out of the Ring’s range.

“What do we have? What do we know?”

Usually a good place to start planning.

Through it does remind me of that bit in the Project.
“We have locked doors. We need a way out.”
    “Cute.”

      1. I still fondly remember the episode where Sam and Jack wound up trapped in the arctic.

Daniel: *to Teal’c* “What happens when you dial your own phone?”
        *beat, complete with raised eyebrow*
Daniel: “Wrong person to ask.” *to the General* “What happens when you dial your own phone?”
